End Game
The Twenty Ten season of the Fore Skin Golf League ended with much more drama surrounding the finishing in last place than the first place hold on the revered Fore Skin Cup. You see, the last place team gets to hold, in their possession, for one year, two cans of Spotted Dick. It must be displayed prominently in their home (I just made that up).
Before we get too involved in the Spotted Dick Drama, The Fore Skin Cup went to the SuperTeam (Team 3) of Scott Piestrak and Joe Taschler, Jr. Scott is a defending champion of sorts as he won last year with Bill Huddleston and Jacob Taschler, both of who had to take this year off from the league. And you may remember Joe Taschler from such moments as his six, yes that is SIX (6), previous cup victories, five cups in the last six years, son of a former champion, and father of last year’s Jacob. Together, Scott and Joe were unstoppable. They built such an insurmountable advantage that they needed only to barely stumble home the last week to clinch - and that is EXACTLY what they did! The Team 5 duo of Kevin Mills (BK) and Greg Brown (Greg 2.0) valiantly gave their all only to fall short by a mere 6 points by destroying the cup winners the last night. Alas it was all for naught as the cup was clinched on the Hole #3 by a bogey putt by Scott. Team 5 showed up big, but finished as bridesmaids for the second year in a row. Could next year be their year?
Back to the Spotted Dick Drama. As the night was getting underway, Team 1, the team in possession of the dick, was busy practicing on the putting and chipping green, determined to avoid a fall back into last place and another year with the Spotted Dick Cans. Other members have never seen such focus from this team of Mike Auquier and Kurt Heineman all year long. And it showed in their scores as they not only avoided last place, they moved into third place! If only they can conjure such drive toward the Fore Skin Cup some year, we would all be in fear.
Team Klotz (Team 4) was not up to the speed of Team 1’s game and succumbed easily. Still, they barely stayed out of Spotted Dick territory. This team’s rookie year proved to be a roller coaster ride. Next year, they will have to draw from their experience to make a serious bid for the cup now that they know the level of intensity that is needed. Why did Team Klotz not get the Spotted Dick? Team 2 grabbed the famed tins for the second time in three years by only getting nine points on their bye week. Veterans Rob Hunt and Adam Hellar had to “grab” the Spotted Dick from last year’s losers in full view of the camera and crew.
Thank you for a good year! See you all later. Keep checking this space for information. Namaste. Meanwhile, here are a few milestones to announce:
Low Gross Front Nine: Rob Hunt - 42
Low Gross Back Nine: Joe Taschler - 37
Low Net Front Nine: Kevin Mills - 32.0
Low Net Back Nine: Kevin Mills - 28.0
How do you stay prepared for 2011! Continue being involved with the FSGL52 initiative. The goal is to do something on Wednesday for every week of the year. Wallyball starts on 9/1/10 at 7pm at Zodiac. Be there.

Pro-Climate, Anti-Climatic
In a year that saw the closest competition in Fore Skin History play out under the best weather in Fore Skin History (sure it was hot and humid sometimes, but can you really complain?), the league standings imploded over the past few Round Robin weeks and, bam, the last night is rendered unimportant. Maybe.
It is set. Team 3 versus Team 5 for the cup. Such as it is.
Team 5 has a chance to step up and add Greatest Comeback in Fore Skin History to this year’s milestones. They will have to give up no more than one point to SuperTeam Team 3 next week on Wesburn’s Front Nine. Who knows what can happen? Team 3 only needs to take 1.5 points to clinch. No tie breaker is necessary.
Meanwhile, the most drama may be found with Team 1’s quest to give away the Spotted Dick. They have embraced the competition and are focused on NOT finishing in last place for the second year in a row and handing off the Booby Prize of Spotted Dick In A Can. Their determination is unwavering. Can anyone else step up and match it? We shall see. This week, as the 2010 season concludes, at beautiful Wesburn!
After golf, join us for the Fore Skin Banquet at Joe’s Prime Time Pub complete with the official Fore Skin Cup Presentation and ceremonial drinking from said cup.

NC17
Week 17 (of 18) is upon us. That last week of getting position for next week’s Championship Night. This is no place for kids.
Superteam Team 3 has solidified their intent to own the cup, but Team 5 has been showing magical signs of late. Witness Greg “What is my name?!” 2.0’s two chip ins this past week.
Rookie Team 4 can jump back in with a BYE week this week. If they do good, look out.
Team 2 has a real chance as they grab a total of 15 strokes against Team 3 this week on the ripe-for-the-pickings back nine as well as a chance to avenge the last position night which started the little spiral they have seemingly ended.
Team 1 can make tee times. Oh wait, this is golf already. Seriously, they still have a chance if the right pieces fall this week.
It is time to man up. No children allowed. This week. At Wesburn.

Sweet Sixteen
Week 16 embarks with the entire league yet again bunched up even more. Every single team is legitimately in the hunt for the Cup with two Round Robin weeks before Championship Night.
We have a new leader. Team 3 has paced themselves well as they grab the lead with pure intentions. Team 5 had a bad week but will showdown with the 3rd place Team 4 for the right to jump back at the lead. Meanwhile, Teams 1 and 2 can use a clash with the first place team and a Bye Week Scramble, respectively, to stake a claim for the Cup Chase.
Be there, this week, as August heats up, at Wesburn!

August at The 'Burn
We leave our scramble nights behind and head into August. Team 5 seems serious about this Cup thing as they extend their lead, but let the group bunch up more behind them. Team 4 takes the Scramble easily and jumps right back into the fray. Team 3 survives. Team 2 misses a chance. Team 1 says they are cursed, but they are still in it.
Three regular round robin weeks remain followed by Championship night. All within the dry month of August. At Wesburn.

Last (Two) Man (Scramble) Standing
Team 5 has created some separation for most teams finally. The league is still bunched up with a mere 22.5 point spread total, but only one team is within a one-week striking distance from the first place veterans. That team? Team 3. That is correct. Team 3, the super team comprised the two most recent cup winners still playing in the league. Is Team 3 finally making their long anticipated and feared move? Is Team 5 capable of keeping those powers at bay? Can Teams 2 and 4 bounce back from a bad Position Night to stake their claim to the pursuit of the cup? Meanwhile, Team 1 has shown some life with a stellar scramble this week. With two more scrambles, they have a chance to let everyone beat up on each other and sneak back into the Cup Chase. The last 5 weeks begin on Wednesday at Wesburn!
Note: The scores sheet at the bottom right now includes hard core cryptic scores for some substitutes.

British Open
Yeah, I know, it is called The Open Championship. You can follow it here:
Does anyone else notice how St. Andrews is really not in any better shape than our own Wesburn?

What the Klotz?
Team Klotz has made another statement! The rookie team will not go away and has thrust themselves into the fray. They are looking Team 5 into the eye this week on Position Night #3 and saying, “How you guys doing? When do we tee off?” The Klotz brothers have benefitted by Jeff’s recent scores, beating his opponent outright while receiving strokes most of the time. Can they keep this up? Find out this week, as we all know the Road to the Fore Skin Cup doesn’t start until Position Night #3. This week, at beautiful (dry) Wesburn!

The Adventures of Burger King and Two Point Oh
Team 5 has used it’s “Scramble Season” to solidify as much of a hold on first place as any team has enjoyed in Twenty Ten. But now they have to look opponents in the eye and come through when it counts. With the next Position Night looming a week away, Team 5 has to battle the current second place Team 2 in a warm up of sorts. That, my friends, is the match of the week. All the while, the other three teams loom with legitimate chances to claim first place as early as this week! It is crazy when Wesburn and Fore Skins get past the 4th of July. So be there, this week (tonight, yes I know, The Captain updated today only) at Wesburn Golf and Country Club!

Bye Team 5
Using multiple weeks of two man scrambles, Team 5 is in the midst of making their move. They have gone out front and have another BYE in their pocket this week. Team 1 was their victim this week as they tumbled down farther away from first place. Yet still, the league is bunched up fairly tight. Be there this week as we head down the backstretch, at Wesburn.
Update: Another scorcher today! Drink your fluids. BEFORE and DURING golf. Cart Girl Annie provides.
