August at The 'Burn
We leave our scramble nights behind and head into August. Team 5 seems serious about this Cup thing as they extend their lead, but let the group bunch up more behind them. Team 4 takes the Scramble easily and jumps right back into the fray. Team 3 survives. Team 2 misses a chance. Team 1 says they are cursed, but they are still in it.
Three regular round robin weeks remain followed by Championship night. All within the dry month of August. At Wesburn.

Last (Two) Man (Scramble) Standing
Team 5 has created some separation for most teams finally. The league is still bunched up with a mere 22.5 point spread total, but only one team is within a one-week striking distance from the first place veterans. That team? Team 3. That is correct. Team 3, the super team comprised the two most recent cup winners still playing in the league. Is Team 3 finally making their long anticipated and feared move? Is Team 5 capable of keeping those powers at bay? Can Teams 2 and 4 bounce back from a bad Position Night to stake their claim to the pursuit of the cup? Meanwhile, Team 1 has shown some life with a stellar scramble this week. With two more scrambles, they have a chance to let everyone beat up on each other and sneak back into the Cup Chase. The last 5 weeks begin on Wednesday at Wesburn!
Note: The scores sheet at the bottom right now includes hard core cryptic scores for some substitutes.

British Open
Yeah, I know, it is called The Open Championship. You can follow it here:
Does anyone else notice how St. Andrews is really not in any better shape than our own Wesburn?

What the Klotz?
Team Klotz has made another statement! The rookie team will not go away and has thrust themselves into the fray. They are looking Team 5 into the eye this week on Position Night #3 and saying, “How you guys doing? When do we tee off?” The Klotz brothers have benefitted by Jeff’s recent scores, beating his opponent outright while receiving strokes most of the time. Can they keep this up? Find out this week, as we all know the Road to the Fore Skin Cup doesn’t start until Position Night #3. This week, at beautiful (dry) Wesburn!

The Adventures of Burger King and Two Point Oh
Team 5 has used it’s “Scramble Season” to solidify as much of a hold on first place as any team has enjoyed in Twenty Ten. But now they have to look opponents in the eye and come through when it counts. With the next Position Night looming a week away, Team 5 has to battle the current second place Team 2 in a warm up of sorts. That, my friends, is the match of the week. All the while, the other three teams loom with legitimate chances to claim first place as early as this week! It is crazy when Wesburn and Fore Skins get past the 4th of July. So be there, this week (tonight, yes I know, The Captain updated today only) at Wesburn Golf and Country Club!

Bye Team 5
Using multiple weeks of two man scrambles, Team 5 is in the midst of making their move. They have gone out front and have another BYE in their pocket this week. Team 1 was their victim this week as they tumbled down farther away from first place. Yet still, the league is bunched up fairly tight. Be there this week as we head down the backstretch, at Wesburn.
Update: Another scorcher today! Drink your fluids. BEFORE and DURING golf. Cart Girl Annie provides.

Penal Tee Strokes
So there they were, Teams 2 and 3, battling it out on #15 during the league wide scramble. Team 3 had just chipped in to go 2 under par. Team 2 was desperately trying to hold onto first place with Scramble Juggernaut Team 5 doing well a hole ahead. Then it happened. All four players hit the wrong ball. Add 2 strokes to each score and do it again. This cemented Team 2 to last place in the scramble and a couple spots in the standings. Team 3 lost 4 points in the exchange, with a 6 point swing with Teams 1 and 5, by forfeiting first place in the scramble, but still claiming first place in the league. Which, you know, weird.
The entire league has continued to bunch up like never before. We are truly half way through and it promises to be the most parity every seen in Fore Skin Land.
This week, round robin play continues, at Beautiful Wesburn. Be there.

Half Life
We reach the midpoint of the season with the closest race in Fore Skin history (The Captain does not even have to check the FSGL Archives) to end the first stanza. Less than 10 points spans the entire field. Team 2 is focused. Team 4 is just playing. Team 3 is feast or famine. Team 5 is cruising. Team 1 is working hard. Let’s see who stays consistent the longest.
Let’s finish the first half with a two man scramble shall we?

Crazy Eight
Week 8 is reborn as Position Night #2 this week! The original Week 8, a regular round robin scheduled night, has been pushed to the end of the year, right before Championship Night, which in itself was pushed a week. See the details in this week’s press release to the left.
POS NITE #2 promises to be action packed as the league is bunched up as close as the Captain can remember. Also, it will be action packed because the mosquitoes will be chasing us for food. Be there, this week, on the front nine of beautiful Wesburn!

Flash Flood F&%#
WEEK 8 IS CANCELLED (6/9/2010). See you next week!
And so it flows.
As we see the league tighten up into a seemingly record spread of only 10 points nearly halfway through a fast season with no rainouts, we find our course a bit under water.
We may not be able to play tomorrow. We will make the call in the afternoon. Right now, we are scheduled for the back nine and the back part of that nine is under water. It has receded a bunch in the past 24 hours, so it is optimistic we can get our nine in. But with more rain forecasted, who knows for sure.
An update tomorrow. Meanwhile, take a look at the left and see updated information and documents and everything a whole day earlier than usual lately. You are welcome.
UPDATE: We will call Wesburn at noon Wednesday and assess our situation then.
UPDATE: FSGL WEEK 8 (6/9/2010) is CANCELLED due to flooding on the back 5 holes!
